Uber has specific requirements for anyone wanting to offer rides on their platform. However, sometimes they aren’t strictly enforced.

According to Uber, the requirements are as follows:

  • Meet the minimum legal driving age
  • Have at least one year of licensed driving experience in the U.S. (three years is required if you are under 23 years old)
  • Have a valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Use an eligible four-door vehicle
  • Submit to and pass a background check
  • Submit to and pass a driving records check

While these requirements aim to keep passengers and other drivers on the road safe, they are not foolproof. Even drivers with perfect backgrounds and driving records can cause serious accidents.
