SUWANEE, GA – Investigators have charged the driver they believe to be responsible for a collision that killed six women and injured 10 others last Saturday.
According to NBC News, Monica Manire, of Byron, made a reckless lane change while traveling along I-85 near the I-985 interchange
The 2002 Dodge Ram passenger van Byron was driving skidded across the lanes of travel before flipping on its side and catching fire in the roadway.
Bystanders jumped into action, pulling as many people as they could from the van. All occupants were members of a sober living community and were en route to a recovery meeting at the time of the crash.
Six women, ranging in age from 26 to 53, were killed as a result of the crash. Byron is facing six counts of homicide by vehicle. She is currently being held in the Gwinnett County Jail.
