CHAMBLEE, GA – According to 11 Alive, a man was injured when he was struck by a freight train near Chamblee Sunday night.
Norfolk Southern said the man was hit by a train of two engines and 91 cars at about 7 p.m. He survived the accident, but no information was released on the severity of his injuries. It was not clear why he was on the tracks. The railroad said no one on the crew was hurt and there was no damage to the train.
The train had left Gainesville, Georgia and was en route to Tipton, Indiana.
Following the incident, Norfolk Southern issued a statement urging the public not to go near the railroad tracks, saying it is extremely dangerous and also trespassing.
