MARIETTA, GA – A search is underway for a driver who left the scene after a crash that killed a Chicago man on a highway in Marietta Saturday night. According to Fox 5 Atlanta, the incident happened at about 8:53 p.m. on Interstate 75 north of the Delk Road interchange.
Investigators said road construction worker Martin Rivera was putting out signage on the shoulder of I-75 north when he was hit by a vehicle. Rivera was knocked into the path of another vehicle and died from his injuries.
Police said the driver of the first vehicle, believed to be a black Volkswagen GTI, did not stop to help. The vehicle was last seen exiting I-75 onto the ramps for South Marietta Parkway.
The driver of the second vehicle did stay at the scene and is working with police.
